What do Halloween and sensitive people have in common?

A thinning veil…

I have always gotten a creepy, crawly, “I’m being watched” feeling around Halloween and it makes perfect sense when you’re an empath to have these feelings.

You know what it’s like to walk into a room that only moments before, unbeknownst to you, was the scene of an emotionally charged event. There is an undercurrent running through the room that feels electric. The hair on your arms and the back of your neck stand up and sometimes it feels like someone has punched you in the gut or you feel like throwing up. Empaths are very sensitive to energy and during the Halloween season (several days preceding and following) the energy is very high.

Why is this? The simple answer is the veil between the worlds thins considerably. Sounds like the makings of a great supernatural novel I know and if you told me this twenty years ago I’d think you were quacked but now, well I’m more open to this stuff because the “real world” stuff just doesn’t add up anymore so there has go to be more to it and the veil thinning and spirits visiting just makes too much sense. There, rant done.

Every year around this time I start getting antsy, and as I mentioned earlier, I feel like I’m being watched. And in essence I am. The doors to the other world, which I like to refer to as the veil – like a curtain strung between my living room and that of the spirit world’s living room – becomes so thin we can communicate much easier. In fact, we can see into each other’s world, hear each other more easily, feel each other’s presence and have a deeper knowing of each other’s existence. I don’t know about you but sleeping becomes almost impossible as I can hear, see, feel, and know they are right there. I can reach out and touch them. All day I see movement from the corner of my eye; much more movement than the rest of the year. It’s like the party on the other side is overflowing into our world and we’re being invited to partake at all hours of the day/night.

So what can you do to keep your sanity during this time?

Get grounded. There are many ways to ground yourself – find one that works for you and stick with it.

Use crystals. Wear them, carry them in your pocket or place them around your home and your place of business.

Set healthy boundaries. Work with your spirit guides and Archangel Michael to limit spirit’s access to you and your space. Take advantage of this special time to connect with spirit – on your terms – and help them connect with loved ones or hang out and learn something new from them. Set up “appointment” times to meet with them or schedule mediumship gatherings to give readings to their loved ones. Make sure to schedule your down time and be firm: absolutely no interruptions during sleep time.

Cleanse your home with sage or incense.

Connect with other empaths. Knowning you’re not the only one often helps!

Hold an angel circle or healing circle to raise the vibration in and around you.

The key is to remember from year to year how a thinning veil affects you and then prepare yourself for it, so make a note on your calendar a week before Halloween reminding yourself what’s to come. That way you’ll save yourself grief thinking you’re going crazy!

Tomorrow I’ll explain the affect Hurricane Patricia is having on empaths.

  1. So true. I’ve always felt a panicked energy before and just after Halloween. Im fearful of this energy. It is very consuming. Ugh.. I’m writing this on Halloween, just tried you find someone who felt the same as me, and I’m happy to see I’m not alone..

    1. Dominique, It’s always comforting knowing you’re not alone. And you’re definitely not alone! If you find yourself feeling panicked and fearful of the energy around you try calling on Archangel Michael and your guardian angels for help.
