Happy birthday Chris 🎉 Welcome to your fifties!!!

A quiet day working, watching birds, and snow falling. Doesn’t get much better than this. Well a cruise might be fun… Just saying 🤣

A good ol’fashioned snow storm is on its way

Friday, 15 January 2021

The wind picked up throughout the day, the air was damp – indicators that snow is on the way. Oh, and the weather alerts on my phone, of course 😉

I’m looking forward to a lot of snow and hope this system doesn’t pull its “horseshoe over Ottawa-Gatineau” trick where snow falls around us but we get nothing…like an invisible bubble is protecting us.

Some photos from today:

Took me awhile to figure out who belongs to these tracks… Squirrel!

What a quiet, somber St. Paddy’s day in the Quinn house this year! Although, to be completely honest, I don’t believe I would have been out celebrating, even if the pubs were open. At least not the way I did in my early twenties! Oh, those were the days…

I was quite surprised, pleasantly that is, to wake up to a winter wonderland outside my window this morning!

A little over 4 inches fell before turning into rain and then, before long, most of it was gone…like it never existed in the first place. We are living in some strange times.

I was feeling a little stir crazy today…like I needed to get out and do something. Funny thing is, I normally telework three days a week and rarely go out during the week…I guess it’s just the idea that we’re being asked to social distant ourselves that makes me want to go out. I’m running low on cat food and will need to contact the vet to see if they’re even open? Hoping they are as this is the only place to get their food!

Little Red has been entertaining Dukes. This afternoon, Dukes sat under the feeder where Little Red was eating, and gazed up at him for some time before I took pity on the little squirrel and called Dukes in. Seconds after he was in the door, Little Red jumped out of the feeder and ran straight for the bird bath to drink!

Happy birthday to my beautiful niece Alex!!!

Well wasn’t that a snowstorm! It started out a little slow but made up for it this afternoon. Wowsers!

Lots of activity at the feeders. I had a hard time keeping the black squirrels away from the platform feeder. Everytime I chased them away, I’d turn around and they’d come right back! Eventually they found the pile I left them on the veranda, out of the snow, and that kept then occupied the rest of the day, which allowed the birds to use the platform!

Was overjoyed when the Cardinals showed up and stayed for photos!

I went out twice to clear the snow off the feeders and will need to go out again tomorrow. That’s alot of snow! So very grateful to be able to telework on days like today.
