Today is a strange day, and not just weather wise. I’d need another page just to chat about that. Seriously though. I’ve been seeing videos of fighting, a woman verbally attacking another woman just because she’s not white. In fact, that same woman was in another video being nasty to a black man.
The comments on Twitter are normally pretty disgusting, but lately… especially today…what’s going on?!?
A blue-checked person on Twitter was calling other people out on their beliefs and behaviour…by calling them names and making fun of them.
Then my cats are fighting, the baby geese are at it.
Enough already. Seriously. Enough.
I’m tired of all the hatred. It’s been amplifying steadily all week. And now I see it in my happy place.
It’s time for love. Only love. You can’t fight hate with hate. No you can’t. Only love can vanquish hate. Only light can eradicate dark. Love is light. Light is love.
I will look for love. I will search out the light. I will amplify the light and love. I will be a beacon of light.
There is more light and love in this world than there is darkness and hate.
There are more good people than not. I will look for the good.
Windy days bring lots of garbage onto my front lawn; both physical and emotional garbage. After the storm I am left picking up and sorting what belongs to me and what doesn’t; both physical and emotional.
You wouldn’t think wind could bring so much emotional garbage into your life – did you? But if your a sensitive person – an empath – then you’re most like nodding your head in agreement with me right now.
Being an empath can be sort of cool – in a parlour trick kind of way – but at the end of the day it can also be very taxing in an exhausting kind of way.
For non-empaths, imagine for a moment that thoughts are energy, much like the device you’re reading this blog post on is energy. The device – be it a tablet, phone or computer – is vibrating at such a slow speed or frequency that you can actually touch it; whereas Angels, for instance, are energy vibrating at extremely fast or high frequency that we can’t see or feel them. Thoughts vibrate at a frequency somewhere in between but at the higher end of the frequency scale. Most ordinary folks don’t notice them but highly sensitive people – empaths – can.
Did you know the average person has about 40 some thoughts a minute. A minute! Now multiply that by the amount of people living in your house, on your street, in your neighbourhood, your town, city, province, country and so on. I bet that only 10 % of those thoughts are happy ones. That leaves a lot of fear-based thoughts floating around your home, town, city, province…
An empath can walk into a grocery store feeling great then walk down an aisle and suddenly feel overwhelmed with feelings of fear, then down another aisle and feel joy, then down another aisle and be overthrown by depression, all because she is walking through people’s thoughts.
What does all this have to do with Hurricane Patricia?
Have you ever had your neighbours’ stuff accumulate on your lawn after a wind storm? A garbage bin from a block or two away, a BBQ from across the street or patio chairs and cushions? The wind also blows energy your way too, energy from all across the streets, towns, cities, provinces that it has visited. Empaths feel the energy, feel the thoughts, 40 thoughts per person per minute times hundreds of thousands of people or more. That’s a lot of energy blowing your way, kind of like turning on a radio and tuning into a country station for a second, then changing to a top 40 station for a second, then changing to easy listening, back to country, to jazz, to talk radio, to sports, to country and back again for the length of the wind storm. Dizzying, electrifying, mind blowing, out of this world insanity.
What can you, as an empath, do to protect yourself during windy days?
Know yourself! If you know yourself, know your feelings and emotions, then you can easily discern what’s yours and what’s not. If it’s not yours, then walk away from it and don’t give it another thought.
Grounding. Grounding exercises are essential for empaths. The best way to start your day is with a grounding meditation exercise.
Nature. Spend as much time as you can in nature, walking in a forest, sitting by water, leaning against a tree.
Sacred Geometry and Crystal grids.
Sea-Salt baths. Ideally a dip in the ocean but if you don ‘t have an ocean close by a sea-salt bath is a great alternative.
Sage/Smudge. Cleanse yourself and your home regularly.
Rose Quartz mirror technique. I use this whenever I venture into town. Visualize rose quartz mirrors surrounding your body with the mirror facing outwards (i.e. away from you and towards others.) As thoughts come towards you, they hit the mirror and are transmuted into pure unconditional love and reflected back to the owner.
Empaths pick up all sorts of garbage so remember to know what’s yours and leave the rest behind and self-care is the best kind of care!
“Jesus replied… love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. The second most important commandment is this: ‘Love your neighbour as you love yourself.'” – Mark 12:29-31
At the end of the day, all that truly matters is this: Did you love?
Did you love yourself?
Did you love your neighbours?
Did you love your enemies?
Did you love strangers?
Did you show love?
Did you allow others to love you?
Did you accept love into your life?
When you strip away the layers we have wrapped around our bodies – and I don’t mean fat and muscle – we reveal our true nature: the Divine within us. And our true nature is to LOVE.
I may be able to speak the languages of men and even of angels, but if I have no love, my speech is no more than a noisy gong or a clanging bell. I may have the gift of inspired preaching; I may have all knowledge and understand all secrets; I may have all the faith needed to move mountains––but if I have no love, I am nothing. I may give away everything I have, and even give up my body to be burned—but if I have no love, this does me no good. – 1Cor 13:1-3
But, over the years we have been conditioned to GUARD our hearts, protect ourselves from outside forces who want to hurt us, and from being ridiculed, bullied, teased, and any other way we may feel vulnerable. We have encased our hearts in protective casing – and in some instances a cell-like jail. Our second nature takes over and instead of LOVING and accepting others with open arms we judge and speculate their motives.
But there is HOPE and you can get your true nature back. It starts with day 29 and 30 of the 30 days of Happiness. (I saved the best for last!)
Sure you can follow all 30 days and you will ignite the happiness within and witness it grow over the 30 days, but without day 29 and 30 there is really no point as these days are the basis, the foundation – if you will – of your life on earth. Without love, there is nothing.
LOVE is the answer to every question. Love is the only thing that is REAL. Everything else – sickness, disaster, worry – is just FEAR which is an illusion because where love is, light is and where light is darkness is eradicated, thus fear is eradicated.
Loving a higher power, loving yourself, and loving others and accepting love unconditionally into your heart are the keys to a happy life.
“Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and it’s faith, hope, and patience never fail…” – 1Cor 13:4-7
With that in mind: Love unconditionally (even if it’s not returned); Love with no holds barred; Be the first to love; Always smile and say hello first – don’t wait to see if your smile will be accepted, just shower people with your loving heart! Follow your heart, not your head.
“…these three remain: faith, hope and love; and the greatest of these is love.” – 1Cor 13:13
And so, the answer all along has been LOVE!
Thank you for joining me on these amazing 30 days of Happiness. I hope you have ignited that happy button inside of you and remember that:
Happiness comes from within – it’s not dependent on things you acquire, people you have in your life, or places that you visit. It’s that pilot light inside; and
You are worthy of love and you are worthy of happiness!
To believe in something bigger than yourself and put your trust in that something – be it God, the Universe, All That Is, or something else – is to guarantee your happiness igniting.
Sure, there will be days when you may doubt the existence of a creator and that’s OK. In fact it’s GREAT. It proves you’re human. But I can guarantee that if you believe in a higher power and connect to it on a daily basis, the HAPPINESS, the joy and jubilation that fills your heart and soul is truly unmatched by any human, any place or any thing on earth.
I believe there is a pilot light inside each of us and it sits in the CENTRE of our being. This pilot light is your creator and it’s light can never go out. But, the size and the brightness of this light is completely dependent on you. I believe the happier you are and the more love you have in your life, not to mention the love that you ALLOW into your life, the brighter and larger your inner light shines. Yet, the more despair and unhappiness you have in your life, the dimmer and smaller your light.
I believe our goal in this world is to SHINE our lights as bright and as large as possible to help HEAL others and to help heal the earth. By shining our light as bright as we can, we become beacons of light, beacons of hope. Those who are in despair and need help are drawn to our light and we can teach them how to shine their light bright, and so on, and so on, and so on until we’re all shining bright and the earth becomes a place of LOVE, of JOY, and of PEACE.
To increase the brightness of your inner light simply CONNECT to your higher power every day in a way that makes you happy. Some people may choose to attend church services, prayer groups, spend time in nature, or meditate. It doesn’t matter how you connect to your higher power, just that you do. Sometimes I sit at the base of a tree, soak in the sun, the air, the sounds of nature and thank God for all that is, all that was and all that is to come.
Other ways to increase your light is to participate in any of the activities I suggested in the past 28 days. You see, by doing things you ENJOY and by being with people you love, your light grows brighter and brighter.
And remember, your light can never go out. Even if you don’t believe in something bigger than you, it will never go out.
So shine your light bright and be a beacon of love and a beacon of hope for someone today!
