Today felt like Friday all day… Not sure what tomorrow is going to be like!
It was a busy day getting infographics completed and I’ve volunteered to be a tester of a new portal opening up soon, so that’s cool. Also managed to get some gardening done.
Our guy…we have a guy…who has been working around our yard. He dropped off clean fill last month when we had a sign up on the lawn looking for clean fill. He then offered his services to spread the fill and, since then, we’ve kept him busy. Today he dropped off four yards of garden soil. Now I can fill up some garden boxes and containers. Really stoked!!!
We popped into Ottawa to visit my nephews who moved into their first apartment this week. It’s a beautiful place and I’m excited for them, proud of the young men they’ve become and a little nostalgic for the little boys they were.
Then we popped over to see my sister-in-law’s new apartment. It’s stunningly beautiful and such a contrast to the boys modern apartment. Her’s is circa 1920s…has the feel of an old church. Gorgeous wood burning fireplace with a stone mantel. She’s moving in on the weekend so no furniture yet.
Tomorrow is Mom’s birthday so she wanted to see most of her babies tonight!
I didn’t have my camera and tried to capture the near full moon and tonight’s sunset…with my phone…not great but it’s something.
I fed the cats when I got home…left the kitchen to get ready for bed…you know, brushing my teeth and so on. I noticed Ashes wasn’t in the kitchen and she still had food. Kinda strange. I walked into my room, noticed the closet door open and there she was, sitting in my laundry basket…silly girl.
What a beautiful day. It feels like summer. The temperature is in the high 20s. The blackflies though…I haven’t seen this many before. I’m not sure if it’s because 2020 is a strange year or if it has something to do with the free clean fill we got.
One of the guys dropping off the fill offered to spread it for us and has been doing just that for the last two days. It looks great, but oh, those blackflies!
The sun came out late this afternoon and we took advantage of it, going for a walk to the river, checking up on the trees we transplanted and enjoying the spring flowers.
I had a good laugh this morning, just after waking, I walked to my bedroom door, opened it and saw my two cats waiting for me. It was quite the sight. I closed the door, walked back to my bed to get my phone, opened the door again and they were still there, in the same position, so I took their picture! As I took a step out of the bedroom, they both turned and ran down the hallway to their food dishes.
A rainy cloudy day made it a challenge to get out of bed this morning. Add a headache to that and I was slow moving. This is day two of a headache. I’m thinking my neck needs a chiro adjustment. I usually go once a month. I’m about two weeks over due. Just don’t feel comfortable going in for an adjustment, not to mention the border to Ottawa is being monitored. I’ve been using peppermint and eucalyptus essential oil which helps for a bit.
My plan for the day was to make soap. Happy to say, even with a nagging headache, I stuck to the plan and made a batch of lemon poppyseed soap. Fingers crossed it turns out!
Also made some lip balm. I’ve been wanting to make it for months but thought I needed to buy beeswax and kept procrastinating. I was thrilled when I went through my soap supplies this morning and found a stash of beeswax!
The only photo I took today was of my cats sleeping on my unmade bed. This was just before I crawled in for a nap with them 😂.
Here’s to a headache free day tomorrow! I’ll be cutting my soap and hope to have some pics to share.
Edit…I wrote my blog early this evening because I wanted to get to bed early. As I was getting ready, mother nature pulled a fast one and presented this…
