“If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.”

That quote, the first time I read it I stopped in my tracks. It really hit home how true it is. No matter what you’re going through in your life right now, someone is going through something uglier.

We all have our challenges, what would life be like without them? I mean, isn’t that the point of being here? To learn, to grow, to rack up points. I say the last in jest but I’ve often thought of life as a game. We’re here for a finite period of time. I believe it’s to learn and grow, to challenge ourselves and expand our souls. That some things are predetermined, such as the challenges we’re to learn, like patience, unconditional love, compassion… And the rest is just what it is, what we choose it to be.

How about some cute pictures? Remember a few days back when the geese came for a visit and I couldn’t get the photo I wanted because I didn’t want to disturb them? Well, they were back this afternoon, while I was BBQing. They didn’t seem bothered by me moving around on the veranda, going in and out of the house, nor when I came out with my camera and snapped a few pics.

We don’t usually have geese and turkeys here at the same time. Although last year we had Charlie, the single turkey who spent the summer with us. He didn’t get in the way of the geese and they didn’t seem to mind him, as long as he was hovering at the edge and not too close to their goslings. But this year, the geese are very early, no goslings are with them, and the turkeys are still around. Everyone is getting along just fine!
