Come and See… and the little flower that is brightening my day

Thursday, 15 April 2021

As I type this, I am dressed in several warm layers waiting for the timer to go off. I’m BBQing. The first of the season…There’s the timer, I’ll be back.

I’m BBQing and it’s down right cold outside. I can actually see my breathe. Brrrrrrrr. But this recipe, that has been marinating since yesterday, was created for the BBQ. I’ve had some success over the winter using the oven but it tastes so much better when done to perfection on the old barby.

In between rain showers I took a little meander around the yard, checking in on my plants. One daffodil is blooming and it so beautiful! These flowers will bring so much joy and light to my day, each time I look out and see them. Can’t wait ’til they’re all up and blooming.

I have to laugh at Ashes. Every time I come in from checking on the BBQ, she wants out. When I go out, she wants in. It’s like a teenager who doesn’t want to be seen with their parent. I’m pretty sure the birds aren’t going to tease her about hanging out with her human.

Come and See

The other thing brightening my day these days is the new series The Chosen.

This is the first multi-season series created about the life of Jesus. The first season was fully funded by crowdfunding. The way it’s being created is different. The story is different. But the result is amazing. The cinematography, the acting, the writing, the directing, post-production, the sets, are all incredible. After just a few episodes, I was hooked. The characters seem so real. They are relatable, they are funny and I just want to hang out with them all, especially Jesus. He comes across as the sort of friend you want to hang out with.

I don’t normally share my faith or talk about Jesus with people. Even when I was doing my angel work I hesitated using his name because it means different things to different people and not all good, so I avoided confrontation by avoiding talking about him. I was raised catholic and was very active in the church for many years. But I walked away from religion in favour of spirituality. But I didn’t walk way from Him, never from Him. Although there have been times in the last few years I feel like he’s abandoned me, I know he’s always been here, especially when I’ve been low and especially now during this crazy period in our history.

This pandemic has left a lot of us asking some big questions, it has also opened old wounds and created new ones. This series is like a healing, soothing balm. If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend checking it out. Put aside the fact it’s ‘Jesus series’ and give it a shot. If for nothing else, the scenery is pretty cool.

The Chosen can be viewed online at The Chosen TV Series (angelstudios.com) or through their app (available where you normally get your apps.)

After you’ve watched it, leave me a comment below. I would love to hear your thoughts!
