A Quinn-tessential Canadian spring-day activity

Saturday, 27 March 2021

Happy birthday Marie!!!

What is more Canadian than maple syrup? How about spending an afternoon around a fire while the sap boils down?

My brother is a sugarmaker – the term for someone who makes Maple syrup. It’s a sweet pastime that’s grown over the years. Close to fifteen years now he’s been tapping trees, boiling down sap and bottling the liquid gold.

Every season more trees are tapped, 60 this year, and equipment and methods are improved upon.

The setup is impressive and the only thing missing is the shack, which will come.

It was a cool day to be outside but being near the fire was cozy and felt amazing, kind of like Spring camping!

I, of course, took lots of photos. Here are some of my favourites. Enjoy!
