Happy pancake Day!

Tuesday, 16 February 2021

I actually forgot it was Pancake Day until this evening…maybe tomorrow.

I made a nice beef soup today – the joys of teleworking – which I had for lunch. It paired nicely with my brother’s homemade buns.

After work I got busy making soap. This, hopefully, will be my last try at making a good stain remover soap. I’ve been trying to recreate my favourite lye soap made by the Sherbrooke Village in Nova Scotia. So far no luck. So, for this attempt, I thought I’d go another route. Instead of recreating the soap, I’ll try making my own. I found a recipe online that looks promising.

This batch I made using the hot process method instead of cold process. I like this way better because it’s less hands on and it’s ready to use as soon as it cools and hardens. Although you’ll have a better bar the longer you let it dry.

The wind is howling and snow is swirling around as I write this. Grateful I’m in a warm, cozy environment!
