I found myself, unexpectedly, with the afternoon off.
My work project had been completed, and my energy with it, I requested Monday and Tuesday off in order to recoup. They agreed and offered this afternoon as well.
Bonus time on my hands on a glorious warm day, 25°C with a humidex, what should I do? Mom needed my help with a couple of things and after that, the day was mine. I hemmed and hawed, until Mom said, “do what makes you happy.”
Wise words! I knew right away what that would be. Painting 🎨!

I worked hard at tuning out the inner critic and focused instead on enjoying the process and the amazing weather.
While I was doing what made me happy, Mom was too… At least I think she was…

Afterwards, we were sitting on the veranda chatting when we heard a Pileated woodpecker. I was scanning the area but couldn’t see him but I did notice that the colour of the sky had darkened behind my favourite dead tree making the tree standout. It looked stunning so I took a picture. When I looked down at the image on the camera, I noticed this…(I enlarged the photo so you can see it better)

Incredibly lucky shot!
Today’s photos
Here are more photos from today. Clearly I am fond of the yellow and orange maple leaves 🍁🍁🍁. And the soft fuzzy paw belongs to Ashes.
Lovely read and lovely painting! 🙂
