Well hello September! You ended up quite warm and humid, not quite what I was expecting.
I spent the day indoors but ventured out late this afternoon to pick some veggies from the garden for supper and to feed the birds. I was surprised at how nice it was, warmth wise. Felt more like the middle of summer than the end.
The pileated woodpecker was calling this afternoon. I could hear it from behind closed windows and doors. I’ve heard his call many times this summer but wasn’t able to locate him. Today though, I peeked out the window and saw two of them on the clothesline post! I wasn’t fast enough to get a photo but wow, what a sight. As I was watching them, I noticed a rose-breasted grosebeak flew in for a feed at the feeder. I did manage to get his photo.

While walking along the grass to the veggie garden I happened to notice some mushrooms that appear to be in the shape of an arrow…pointing the way.

So, I followed the direction they were pointing, to a small path in the small forest and found a bunch more mushrooms! I was wondering on the weekend if we had any mushrooms on the property. My brother had found some really cool ones on his property. I was happy to see we had some too.

And my daily photo of sunflower:
