I can’t believe August is just around the corner. The crickets have started, the air seems different. August is blowing in.
Two full days of training has left me needing to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors. So, I did just that, headed to my garden after dinner to harvest some chamomile and water it. I stopped by the garlic patch first and was delighted to see the curly heads. We’re almost there boys.

Then I wandered over the vegetable garden to harvest some chamomile.

It was at this point I noticed a couple of corn husks missing from two plants! Those darn ol’ raccoons!!!

I was ticked off, more at myself though because I have been putting off building a fence. Guess what’s on my agenda for tomorrow? That’s right, building a fence! They also managed to get into the critter-proof seed cans and ate all the bird seed. I’m grateful I didn’t buy that new bag of seed the other day or it’d be all gone too. (This is the reason for the “Forgiveness Friday” title btw ;))
On a positive note, the string beans have started, and the chamomile harvest was a big one tonight. At this rate, I’m going to have enough chamomile and lemon balm tea for most of the winter.
The corn is much taller than me! String beans have started! Colourful annuals in the butterfly garden
When I returned to the house, Dukes was lying on the floor next to his toy box. For half a second I wondered if he was still breathing…the way he was lying and the toy box being overturned, well, see for yourself:

His tail moved so I knew he was ok. I grabbed the camera to get a few pics. Then he woke up, posed for me:

Then promptly fell back to sleep:

There’s never a dull moment in this household!
And finally, I want to share a photo of Comet Neowise I took last night:

P.S. It’s 8:28 pm and the sun is setting. YIKES!!!
