I tried something new tonight and really enjoyed it!

CBC Ottawa held a few creative events leading up to their upcoming #CBCProjectGive taking place at the National Arts Centre on Friday, 13 December. Project Give is a day long event to raise much needed funds for the Ottawa Food Bank.

The event I attended was a watercolour painting workshop by artist/instructor Andrea Noriega (@watercolour613) held at Equator Coffee in Westboro.

It was well organized, easy to follow for any level of artistic ability and lots of fun! Everyone was in good spirits and I met some lovely people.

We painted a wreath with an apple. The apple is the foodbank’s logo. I was inspired by the project – the workshop fees were donations to the foodbank – so added text to the center of my wreath: Giving is Receiving. Which it really is when you think about it. We get so much in return when we give to others.

On the way home, the Christmas lights across Canada were on, having been lit tonight. I took a detour, following Confederation Boulevard to admire the lights. I even stopped at Jacques Cartier park to take pictures with my phone!

Tonight’s photo is tonight’s painting…a work in progress.
