I was giving myself a hard time this evening as I walked towards the most amazing sky. I was at Fort Lauderdale Beach as the sun set. The sky over the Atlantic was blue and pink. Add in the colour of the ocean with the brown of the beach and I was in Artist’s heaven! Oh, and the palm trees…
The reason I was giving myself a hard time – something I do a lot, unfortunately – was because I brought my heavy DSLR with me and it had the long lens on it. It was no good for this type of shooting. I should have had the smaller lens. Funny enough, yesterday I chose the smaller lens and was wishing I had the longer one. Sigh. So I was giving myself a hard time because I should have just left the camera and relied on my phone camera instead, which takes amazing photos.
A short while later, we’re walking along the rode and I gasp! Oh my goodness, a sight I have never seen before. The full moon rising out of the Atlantic ocean. So gorgeous. I was so grateful to have my long lens on my DSLR, let me tell you! So, that voice I listened to as I was grabbing my camera and thinking of leaving it behind, the one that whispered…take the long lens…knew what was coming. Glad I listened.

Tonight’s painting is inspired by silhouetted palm trees at sunset.
