Well now wasn’t that a party. The whole family, except my sweet oldest niece who had to work, altogether for the first time in over a year.

My nephew James made a beautiful and delicious chocolate cake with whipped cream icing and chocolate ganache.

I was laid up with a swollen knee today and didn’t manage to get outside to take photos but I did step out on the veranda as the sun was beginning to set and capture some photos of the yard and this sweet hardy flower that’s still blooming after several frosts.

I don’t often know what I’m going to paint each day. Sometimes I look at a blank canvas for several minutes before anything comes to me. Other times, as I’m unpacking my supplies, I wonder what I’ll paint, where I’ll start… Usually I start with the sky. I ask myself, blue or red? And I go from there. Once the sky is painted, I just keep going, following my guidance.
