365…248

These early mornings, waking up before the sun, not hearing the birds chirping, can be downright depressing. One great thing about them, though, is being able to watch the sunrise and everything come awake while I’m getting ready for work. Although, I fall behind and am often late because I keep stepping outside to capture the sunrise with my camera! Just when I think the sky is amazing and I capture it and go back inside, it gets better and better.

Three years ago I decided I needed to do something to beat the “rising before the sun” blues. I purchased a sunrise simulation alarm clock. A purchase I long wanted to make but kept putting it off because I felt it was too expensive. I can safely say it was by far the best purchase I have ever made. Now, I wake up to a room filled with sunlight and the sound of robins. Sometimes, during the summer months, I’m not sure if it’s my alarm going off or the birds chirping outside…that’s how real it sounds and there are days I’m disappointed when I open my eyes to reality, so sure I was that the sun was shining.

Mom just recently bought one too. It’s a less expensive model but has some neat features such as gentle music that plays while the birds sing. It’s such a catchy tune that I find myself humming to it and making up lyrics to sing with it all morning long! da laa, de da daaa, da, daa, de daa.

While sitting in traffic this morning a truck pulled up next to us. Instantly my mood changed from duldroms to joy…

What a great design!

I took a mid-afternoon painting break to paint this little scene:
