A rainy day today. Good thing I have a swanky new raincoat and rubber boots. Funny thing is, by the time I got all of it on and stepped outside, the rain stopped! Only for a short while, but long enough to replenish the bird feeders, walk down to the river to smell the lilacs and take a dozen or so photos.
I had to follow the geese down. Or they were hurriedly waddling out of my way! I was focused on the scenery, taking photos, framing shots when an annoyed chattering broke through my concentration. It was a bird, with something in its mouth, quite annoyed at me for being too close to her young-ins. Before stepping away, I took her picture.
Then, all of these black birds start flying into the trees around me. They were coming from across the river and around the yard. It was one of those moments that seemed unreal, like I was in a movie. I guess she called in the Calvary! I took the hint and moved away, albeit not far but enough ton placate them.
I was taking pictures of flowers using the macro setting on my camera.

Later, sitting at the table, looking outside for inspiration for today’s painting, the white sky – pretty difficult to paint with watercolours – I decided to paint the river with the trees around it.
