365…064

5 March 2019

An overcast day with light snow…I sound like a weather reporter! (hahaha) But I know, when I look back on this 365 Creativity Project journey, I’ll appreciate knowing what the weather was. It has a profound effect on our emotions and mental state. I don’t have facts and research, just observations and life experience. Just as women are affected by the phases of the moon, so to are we affected by the weather. Pay attention to your mood on sunny days as opposed to cloudy days. Especially if you’ve been having more cloudy days than sunny days. It takes a toll!

I painted a greeting card today. I decided on a sunset that would reflect in water. When I was done, I really liked it and pondered whether to add land or trees or something to ground it, but decided I liked the colours as they were, so left it. My youngest niece’s birthday is coming up later this month and I thought it would be perfect for her.

Inspired by that painting, I decided to give it a go again and create another sunset. This one…well, let’s just say since I’ve been using watercolours (I only started in January of this year!) I have been wanting to create a dark and vibrant sunset. I had all but given up, figuring I would need to use acrylics to get the desired effect… Then this painting happened. I added some land with bushes and trees, reflecting into the water, a few birds and voila!

I wasn’t sure what my photo of day would be. I didn’t take a camera to work, didn’t go out at lunch… but then the snow started shortly after I arrived home. I was making dinner, looked out and thought…wow! I’d like to paint that. Take a picture for future reference…
