Oh, it was a day. A beautiful sunny day with a hint of spring in the air. Even the chickadees were singing about it!
I haven’t seen, nor heard, many chickadees all winter, yet this afternoon…what a sound! I realize we may be in for many more storms before spring actually gets here – and I mean the real spring…crocuses and tulips, green grass, no snow…not the calendar spring. But, even with more snow and freezing rain on the way, just feeling that change in the air, the smells, the feel of the sun…there’s hope!

Sunny February day!

I wanted to do something special for the clients who come for a reading tomorrow during the Mid-Winter Milling event in Almonte. Did I happen to mention I’ll be at Mill Street Books? (If you’re in the area…come visit!)
Anyway…back to the something special. I decided on two things. First, hand-painted watercolour bookmarks with inspirational message on the back (and my website, in lieu of a business card). And, secondly, seed paper for a wish! That’s right. I’ve been making my own paper and seed paper and thought it would be fun to write a wish on the paper, then plant it and watch the wish come to fruition in the form of wild flowers!
I divided the watercolour paper into fours:

then painted a scene across the sheet. I did this three times, removed the tape, cut the bookmarks, and then painted an inspirational message or word on the back. I’m so thrilled with how they turned out!
