At the end of my work day, I jumped in the car to head into town. It was really cold and I decided to leave my camera home. I figured I wouldn’t take it into any of the stores with me and didn’t want it sitting in my car…I also figured I could use my iPhone to capture anything that caught my eye.
And catch my eye, something did. Waiting in traffic at St. Rene Blvd, right next to the Ste. Rose church, what do I see but a crane, arm extended to the bell tower. Awesome picture. I reach for my iPhone, only to find it dead. What the….? The battery was low when I left home (about 25-30%) but I figured it would be enough. I guess the cold was too much for it. A missed opportunity for sure. After spending 20 minutes in Rona, the iPhone warmed up and turned on. Just a little too late.
So, no picture of the day. At least not yet đŸ˜‰
For my painting of the day, I was in the basement putting away some of the new supplies I purchased for paper-making, when I noticed my watercolour pencils. I have two sets. One set I’ve had since…well, I was still working at Algonquin College, so must have been 2006 when I purchased them! And the other set, I picked up when I was at the Lee Valley store in Almonte several years ago.
I’d say it’s about time I get them out and try them out!

I remember trying the pencils once before and couldn’t get the hang of them. But this time, since I’ve been working with watercolour paints for 27 days, I found them much easier to use and really enjoyed the process. They would be great for painting on the go, especially travelling. All you need are your pencils, paper, one brush, and a tiny jar of water.
While painting, I thought I would take a picture of the paper I made last night. So, when I finished, I set up an impromptu photo studio and took some shots of the paper. Ashes, my female cat, was hovering. I turned to find her sitting on the edge of a chair, posing so beautifully. I asked her if she would like to be my photo of the day and I swear, she tilted her head, posing for me. I took half a dozen shots of her and found a few that turned out beautifully (and don’t need any adjustments.) So, tonight, I have two photos of the day!
