Today was all about the return of blue skies and sunshine. That combination almost reduces the bitter cold (-35 C in the wind). Almost!
Lunchtime found me out and about my yard, shoveling the veranda, taking pictures of the tail end of the large whitish grey cloud cover that has covered us for days. So so joyful to see blue skies again. (Is it blue skies or blue sky? There is only one sky…)

After supper, I was sitting in my chair, watching some TV when the sunset outside my living room window, caught my eye. Not the sunset so much as the black silhouette of the trees against the red sky. I donned by winter gear (coat, headband, scarf, gloves, mitts, boots), camera and tripod in hand, I set out to capture the moment.
Two things: I managed to get a few shots in, before traffic got really heavy. Then it was a waiting game for a break in the constant stream of cars zipping by. I have a few photos of taillights streaming by. Cool, but not what I really wanted. The second thing was the wind. It was so windy, my tripod was shaking! Now, I’ve been having some issues with blurry images. I’m not sure if I don’t have my camera set up properly, if my eyes are bad, or it’s my lens, but I find more and more of my images are coming out blurry.

Take tonight, for instance. Through the viewfinder, the trees were sharp and in focus. I switched from auto to manual focus to lock it in. Took a few shots. But when I looked at them on my laptop, they’re blurry. I need to investigate and see what’s going on.
Any way, sunset was so gorgeous, especially after not seeing one for days, that I decided to paint it tonight. (I painted it in focus 😉 )
