Ch…Ch…Change things up! Day 21 of 30 Days of Happiness

Sometimes, something as simple as changing one SMALL thing in your life could be all the difference you need to ignite your HAPPY button.

Change is GOOD. We’re creatures of habit and when we find something that works for us, we tend to stick with it – FOREVER.

What if tomorrow morning, you wake up to your favourite “happy” song instead of the “beep, beep, beep” of your alarm? Put together a list of your favourite happy songs that get you moving, dancing, and feeling great inside and out. If you’re a “shower in the morning” type, why not play your favourite music while you’re showering and sing along with it? It’s guaranteed to get you in the HAPPY zone!

Reaching for the same colour shirt, towel or blanket you ALWAYS buy? Why not change it up and buy a completely different style and/or colour?

Maybe change the genre of movies and books you usually read and try something different. A different author perhaps?

How about a different restaurant or take-out place? Or maybe a different vacation place?

There was a time I would think people were crazy for even considering such a thing. Change! Try something new! Are you crazy? I go to the same restaurant because I know I’m going to like it. There will be no disappointment. I know people who go to the same vacation destination year after year because it’s what they know. Even if they’re not overly happy with the place, it’s what they know so they stick with it. I get it. I’m the type of person who will ONLY order the chicken parmigiana at East Side Mario’s because I KNOW it’s going to be good. Last December, while Christmas shopping at St. Laurent Shopping Centre, I stopped in at East Side Mario’s for a late dinner. I was ready to order my regular when the waiter announced the specials and highly recommended the lasagna. I was SKEPTICAL but thought, ‘what the hey, let’s change things up a little!’ That lasagna was probably the best I’ve ever tasted.

Have you seen those publisher specials where they offer an e-book for $1.99 just to get you to try it? I took advantage of that offer the other day. I figured if I didn’t like it I’m only out $1.99, right? But, if I love it, then I’ve got another author and a different genre to add to my list. Well, I loved the book and, thankfully for me, that book was that authors first of many. I’ve since downloaded his second book. A different author, a different genre…

There’s a reason they say ‘a change is as good as a rest‘.

If you feel like you’re in a rut or need ‘SOMETHING’ in your life but don’t know quite what it is, then try CHANGING something, try something new and see how you feel.

And then drop my a line and let me know how it works for you!
