And the greatest of these is LOVE – Day 30 of 30 Days of Happiness

“Jesus replied… love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. The second most important commandment is this: ‘Love your neighbour as you love yourself.'” – Mark 12:29-31

At the end of the day, all that truly matters is this: Did you love?

Did you love yourself?
Did you love your neighbours?
Did you love your enemies?
Did you love strangers?
Did you show love?
Did you allow others to love you?
Did you accept love into your life?

When you strip away the layers we have wrapped around our bodies – and I don’t mean fat and muscle – we reveal our true nature: the Divine within us. And our true nature is to LOVE.

I may be able to speak the languages of men and even of angels, but if I have no love, my speech is no more than a noisy gong or a clanging bell. I may have the gift of inspired preaching; I may have all knowledge and understand all secrets; I may have all the faith needed to move mountains––but if I have no love, I am nothing. I may give away everything I have, and even give up my body to be burned—but if I have no love, this does me no good. – 1Cor 13:1-3

But, over the years we have been conditioned to GUARD our hearts, protect ourselves from outside forces who want to hurt us, and from being ridiculed, bullied, teased, and any other way we may feel vulnerable. We have encased our hearts in protective casing – and in some instances a cell-like jail. Our second nature takes over and instead of LOVING and accepting others with open arms we judge and speculate their motives.

It’s exhausting!

But there is HOPE and you can get your true nature back. It starts with day 29 and 30 of the 30 days of Happiness. (I saved the best for last!)

Sure you can follow all 30 days and you will ignite the happiness within and witness it grow over the 30 days, but without day 29 and 30 there is really no point as these days are the basis, the foundation – if you will – of your life on earth. Without love, there is nothing.

LOVE is the answer to every question. Love is the only thing that is REAL. Everything else – sickness, disaster, worry – is just FEAR which is an illusion because where love is, light is and where light is darkness is eradicated, thus fear is eradicated.

Loving a higher power, loving yourself, and loving others and accepting love unconditionally into your heart are the keys to a happy life.

“Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and it’s faith, hope, and patience never fail…” – 1Cor 13:4-7

With that in mind: Love unconditionally (even if it’s not returned); Love with no holds barred; Be the first to love; Always smile and say hello first – don’t wait to see if your smile will be accepted, just shower people with your loving heart! Follow your heart, not your head.

“…these three remain: faith, hope and love; and the greatest of these is love.” – 1Cor 13:13

And so, the answer all along has been LOVE!

Thank you for joining me on these amazing 30 days of Happiness. I hope you have ignited that happy button inside of you and remember that:

  • Happiness comes from within – it’s not dependent on things you acquire, people you have in your life, or places that you visit. It’s that pilot light inside; and
  • You are worthy of love and you are worthy of happiness!

Much love,

Believe in something bigger than yourself.

To believe in something bigger than yourself and put your trust in that something – be it God, the Universe, All That Is, or something else – is to guarantee your happiness igniting.

Sure, there will be days when you may doubt the existence of a creator and that’s OK. In fact it’s GREAT. It proves you’re human. But I can guarantee that if you believe in a higher power and connect to it on a daily basis, the HAPPINESS, the joy and jubilation that fills your heart and soul is truly unmatched by any human, any place or any thing on earth.

I believe there is a pilot light inside each of us and it sits in the CENTRE of our being. This pilot light is your creator and it’s light can never go out. But, the size and the brightness of this light is completely dependent on you. I believe the happier you are and the more love you have in your life, not to mention the love that you ALLOW into your life, the brighter and larger your inner light shines. Yet, the more despair and unhappiness you have in your life, the dimmer and smaller your light.

I believe our goal in this world is to SHINE our lights as bright and as large as possible to help HEAL others and to help heal the earth. By shining our light as bright as we can, we become beacons of light, beacons of hope. Those who are in despair and need help are drawn to our light and we can teach them how to shine their light bright, and so on, and so on, and so on until we’re all shining bright and the earth becomes a place of LOVE, of JOY, and of PEACE.

To increase the brightness of your inner light simply CONNECT to your higher power every day in a way that makes you happy. Some people may choose to attend church services, prayer groups, spend time in nature, or meditate. It doesn’t matter how you connect to your higher power, just that you do. Sometimes I sit at the base of a tree, soak in the sun, the air, the sounds of nature and thank God for all that is, all that was and all that is to come.

Other ways to increase your light is to participate in any of the activities I suggested in the past 28 days. You see, by doing things you ENJOY and by being with people you love, your light grows brighter and brighter.

And remember, your light can never go out. Even if you don’t believe in something bigger than you, it will never go out.

So shine your light bright and be a beacon of love and a beacon of hope for someone today!

Be an Extra Special Someone in the Life of a Child or a Senior – Day 28 of 30 Days of Happiness.

Kids can teach us so much about life if we just allow ourselves to let go for a moment and really “be” with them. They will remind us that life is meant to be fun and it’s OK for us to get down and act a little crazy every now and then. They may also remind you that – once in a while – It’s OK to eat dessert before the main course.

Unfortunately there are children in our community who don’t have parents who care for them, or they don’t have that extra special someone who thinks the sun rises and sets on them. Every child should have that extra special someone in his or her life. Can you be that someone for them? If you think you can then look at spending time with a child in your community by volunteering with your local Boys and Girls club.

We can also learn much from the seniors in our community. The stories they can tell; the history they have witnessed; the lessons they’ve learned and would like to share with others; all this and so much more. I find it very peaceful, enjoyable and enlightening to spend time with seniors. They remind me so much of children in that they have that same joy radiating within and they have a wise-ness about them and most are willing to share this with you, if you’re a good listener and are open to receiving this beautiful gift. If you feel you can spare a few hours once a week to visit with a senior in your community then consider volunteering with your local seniors retirement centre.

The gift of your time, your presence and your love to the children and seniors in your community will be returned to you a hundred fold.

Spend time with an animal – Day 27 of 30 Days of Happiness

photo of goats from constance creek wildlife refugeThere is just something SPECIAL about animals. The love we feel from them is real. Even if they’ve been abused and put through hell, they are willing to trust again and love us unconditionally.

I have learned about horses who have been cruelly abused but with the love and patience shown by a trainer in a round pen, these beautiful and amazing creatures have been able to forgive, let go, trust and love again within a couple of hours. AMAZING! The same goes for dogs who have been cruelly abused. Within minutes of feeling compassion and empathy from a human, the tail begins to wag and they lick the human. It’s almost as if they are hardwired to love and trust.

I believe animals’ purpose on earth is to heal humans by loving us. During “IET for Pets” training I learned that horses have the heart space equivalent to that of the ascended masters (Jesus, Kuthumi, Budda and so on). No other species on earth has a heart space that large. Although I feel dolphins fall into this category too as they have a very similar energy and healing capability as horses.

Having spent a lot of time with horses observing and interacting with them and witnessing how they interact with other humans, I can say with certainty that they can indeed heal people. They mirror us; our emotions, our thoughts and our beliefs and they force us to be congruent, to be true to our selves. I have witnessed a client saying what she thought I wanted to hear but was incongruent with her inner self and watched in amazement as the horse, picking up on this, walked away from her.

The unconditional love and loyalty of an animal is unmatched. There is nothing more rewarding than having a faithful, loving animal waiting at the door for you, beyond excited for your arrival! Just as there’s nothing more stress-releasing than petting an animal and listening to that contented purr.

If you get the chance over the holidays to visit an animal sanctuary, I highly recommend it and I encourage you to get up close and personal with the animals and allow yourself to just be, to allow your feelings to come to the surface and spill out. Don’t be surprised if tears flow freely down your cheeks. Hang out with the horses, goats, sheep and whatever else may be there and soak up the love.

Warning: After spending as little as an hour on a farm with animals, you can expect to feel amazing, recharged, light, and full of love!
